Y.C.M. & The Explorers Club celebrate the spirit of adventure

In collaboration with The Explorers Club of New York, the Yacht Club de Monaco is hosting a new edition of the La Belle Classe Superyachts Environmental Symposium.

Monday, 23 March will mark the scientific highlight of the event with the Day of Exploration, a day dedicated to the deep seas and coral reefs. Held in the presence of Prince Albert II of Monaco, the event will bring together leading partners such as the Centre scientifique de Monaco and Coral Gardeners.

With the participation in particular of explorer Victor Vescovo, the day will highlight the concrete contributions of yachting to scientific research, as well as the commitment of explorers to preserving the planet.

faq

The Symposium is an annual think-tank organised by Yacht Club de Monaco during Monaco Ocean Week. It gathers scientists, explorers, owners, captains and industry professionals to discuss environmental issues, explore sustainable technologies and promote responsible yachting.

The event is held in Monaco at the Yacht Club de Monaco.

Topics discussed include scientific exploration of the oceans, new energy sources, sustainable navigation technologies, protection of vulnerable areas (eg: Antarctica), data collection for research and superyachts’ environmental responsibility.

The event gathers an international panel: explorers (eg: Sylvia Earle, Nina Jensen, Bertrand Piccard), scientists, captains of large yachts, owners, Yacht Club de Monaco members, and Monegasque and international institutions.

The Symposium reaffirms the Yacht Club de Monaco’s commitment to maritime sustainability, to position the yachting sector as an agent of change and promote use of environmental innovations in the nautical industry.

The Symposium reaffirms the Yacht Club de Monaco’s commitment to maritime sustainability, to position the yachting sector as an agent of change and promote use of environmental innovations in the nautical industry.

The event is generally by invitation but press releases, articles and videos are published after the meeting.

The Symposium is not just a platform for discussion. Projects such as collecting bathymetric data via super-yachts and the integration of the SEA Index® into the boating industry demonstrate that the technical and operational fall-out from these gatherings materialise in practice.
